Morning Coffee IV – Top 7 Classical Music Blogs for Singers

There is a wonderful habit of getting a cup of coffee (or beverage of your choice) and scrolling through the latest news and updates in the singer world before getting started with your day. Since I love coffee, I call it my Morning Coffee time. It’s pretty simple. I have a list of bookmarks on my browser that I click down daily to make sure I don’t miss anything big happening in the field of singing. I look at all types of singing now – though I confess, I used to only look at the classical blogs, websites, and thought leaders. I hope you’ll put SantoshaVoiceGroup.com onto your Morning Coffee time list right at the top. Meanwhile, I’ll give you my favs in this several part series. If you find some that you love, please let us all know – I’m constantly updating this list. I hope you will too.

Today I’m reviewing and listing my: Top 7 Classical Music Blogs for Singers

Parterre Box

I swear, this blog has been around since blogs were really neato. This one still is really neato. It started out with just La Cieca, pen name, writing the blog. Now there are contributors from all over the world. It is hip and wonderful and based in New York so you’ll get another perspective on what’s going on there.

Operawire

This site is free and has news, reviews, indie opera stuff, special features like opera and the movies. Even if you don’t sing opera, it’s a fun site to visit.

Likely Impossibilities

I just found this one but the last post was during Covid. I hope she is ok. She seems pretty wonderful and current. Fingers crossed she will come back soon.

British Classical Music: Land of Lost Content

My CD was reviewed by this group and they did a really great and thorough job of it too, even though I’m not British! Wow! That said, this is a fun blog to browse through if you like classical singing. Articles are well-written and timely. Have fun!

Greg Sandow: The Future of Classical Music

Dear Greg! The music world may have moved a bit too quickly for him – he took a big break during Covid but he is back! His blog has been around since the beginning of blogs – does anyone remember the “blogroll”? I’ve been following his writing for a long time. Great guy. Great blog.

Iron Tongue of Midnight

Iron Tongue of Midnight is Lisa Hirsch’s classical music blog. It is a fun read and covers lots and lots of topics including singers. Another one that has been around for a long time and is good at what she does!

Alex Ross: The Rest is Noise

This is another classical music blog from a wonderful older fellow writer. Sometimes his take on what is happening feels a bit old fashioned but he is hanging in there and rolling with all the changes very well. He’s been around for a long time and still relevant. All classical.
